A study on cannabis and CBD was done by the Journal of Clinical Investigation in 2014. The number of sebocytes, or cells that make sebum, decreased. Researchers found that CBD prevented the production of excess oil. They also found that CBD oil caused a cell-based anti-inflammatory reaction to cytokines, which can worsen acne.

The journal Frontiers in Plant Science published a 2016 study that proved the benefits of CBD. The study says that these benefits can help reduce skin infections caused by dust and other contaminants. We need to do more studies before we know how helpful it really is for humans, though.

CBD has proven to be effective in treating acne so far and there is no arguing about that fact. There have been studies that have shown CBD has antibacterial properties, so it might be useful for people who suffer from breakouts, sensitive skin, or suffer from sunburn.
